HTC Sense Android Update?

Say I have a phone that runs Android 2.1 WITH HTC SENSE.
If there is an update for Android, like Android 2.2, will my phone with HTC Sense be able to update to Android 2.2 as well? Or will it not be able to, since it has HTC Sense?
