Getting rid of Android 2.2 release?

Yesterday, the 2.2 update was ready to install, and I did so. It was around 50% battery power. After installing the update, I left my phone for about three hours, and when I came back, the battery was dead. I thought the update must have taken a lot out of it, put it on the charger around 3. Took it off the charger at 5 PM, and surprise surprise - at 10 PM, it's down to 30%.
